Seeing that August is Women’s month, we’ve decided to feature Deborah Bailey, a Marketing Strategist, a Social Media expert and on top of it all a self-published dynamic cook. We share the 6 reasons why Deborah is our woman of the month:
She loves our readers
So much that she was willing to give one lucky reader a signed copy of her first Cook Book, The Coloured Kitchen. The Competition has ended, our winner was A Naidoo, congratulations.
The Coloured Kitchen Cookbook
When thinking of dinner takes the yay out of your day, fear not.
The Coloured Kitchen is a self-published cookbook that is fast becoming a must-have on your recipe book shelf. Claiming that food is her love language, Deborah Bailey thrives on every part of the preparation of a meal.
Left to her own thoughts, she is always devising ways to improve a recipe or create something that anyone can easily follow. Her passionate food recipes are compiled from her extensive travel experience.
Beef Chilli Basil in Thailand – If you’ve ever tried her Beef Chilli Basil, you’ll never forget the aromatic punch of flavours in this authentic Thai dish. It’s outright delicious. The basil, soy and Thai chillies, are an amazing flavor combination. If you’re as obsessed with chilli as Deborah is, you’ll want to cook it for every dinner party. Look for the recipe in her book.
She Shares a secret – Paella in Spain
Deborah travelled to Spain a few years ago and fell in love with the traditional paella served with rice. If she couldn’t order the dish in a restaurant she would venture to the mercados (markets) to order a plate. Her rendition of paella is a little different but it’s how she loves it. She cooks the rice the traditional way, always making sure to include a little white wine, stock and saffron. But then, she spices the chicken with paprika, salt and pepper and roasts in the oven. She fries the fish, and saute the prawns in garlic butter. Only when the paella rice is almost cooked does she add these ingredients to it. “I just find that it’s a lot tastier and always great with a dollop of my chilli paste”, she adds.
Live Cooking Demo
When Deborah shares the date for a live cooking demo, you need to be there. She will show you how to whip up a mouth-watering masterpiece. Deborah has also started doing private chef events for up to 20 people and can be contacted on 082 333 2018.
